Starting Off

Thanks to everyone that’s come out to Open Mic at America Bar & Grill. I’ve been hosting since the beginning - and that was around September ’04. In that time, there have been some great things to come about. Just recently, good friend Jim Femino came out and had a little get together in honor of his first #1 hit on the country music charts - another awesome friend, Topher Wurts organized a benefit to get local musicians together to support one of our own- Mr Al Bien - owner of Swarthmore Music and Media Music - and collectively buy the stuff we all need. It proved to be a great night that got everyone thinking on the same page that added a rush of business back to where it belonged - Al’s stores. I’ve also met many of the performers that now play at the group of restaurants I work with - America Bar & Grill (Chester Springs & Glen Mills) and The Epicurean.

Thanks go out to friends like Scott Ewing, a great friend and supporter of Open Mic who has really honed his talent at this weekly event. It would be easier to come up with the number of shows he’s missed over the years than add up the nights he’s spent setting up and breaking down. The lovely Richelle, who has tolerated late nights, senseless ramblings, bad tips and the occasional rumble - all with impeccable style and good looks. She makes her job look easy. We know better. Mr Matt Collins who really helped get things started back in the beginning by showing up and playing every night. I know Fritter is smiling
